What is a seamless background texture?

Seamless background textures are useful for when designers want to use background images for the entire window body of a website, or for digital designers and artists working in 3D applications with textures and backgrounds. For the web application, the designer will use a seamless background image when they do not want the image to fall off into a background color when the browser is stretched to the edge of the image. Using a seamless background texture, a designer can repeat the image across the entire body element container using simple CSS rules and achieve the desired effect.

The seamless textures on this site are provided free of charge for your use in any application you like. In the near future we will be hosting tutorials on how to correctly implement your seamless textures and how to create your own seamless background images using graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. You can view examples of the textures which will allow you to view the texture repeating seamlessly in your browser window.
